BMW is advancing development of a fully electric version of its flagship SUV, the X7. Recently spotted test mules reveal that the iX7 will retain the overall silhouette of the combustion-engine X7, incorporating the brand’s next-generation design language only in subtle details—such as cleaner body surfacing, flush door handles, a closed-off kidney grille, iX7 badging, and the absence of exhaust pipes—while preserving the split-headlight configuration and eschewing a fully integrated front fascia. The vehicle will be built on an upgraded version of BMW’s existing large-SUV architecture, enabling shared production lines for both internal combustion and all-electric models. Technologically, the iX7 will feature next-generation core systems, including higher energy-density batteries and an 800V high-voltage architecture, delivering an estimated range exceeding 805 kilometers (500 miles). It will come standard with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, and the high-performance variant is expected to produce over 811 horsepower. The iX7 is slated for market launch in 2027, with a starting price of at least $100,000.
