Murata Manufacturing has begun mass production of seven new high-capacitance multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) designed for automotive applications. Among them, five are low-rated-voltage (2.5–4 Vdc) models suited for circuits surrounding autonomous driving ICs, and two are medium-rated-voltage (25 Vdc) models intended for power supply lines. The low-voltage MLCCs achieve a capacitance of 100 μF in a 1206-inch package, reducing PCB footprint by approximately 36% compared to previous solutions. Additionally, the electrostatic capacitance of the 0201-inch low-voltage MLCCs has been increased from 1 μF to 2.2 μF. For the medium-voltage MLCCs, a capacitance of 1 μF is achieved in a compact 0402-inch package, cutting PCB mounting area by about 61% versus earlier versions. These new products deliver high capacitance in smaller form factors, helping to save valuable PCB space and enhance power supply stability.
