The Ford GT MK IV has set a lap time of 6 minutes and 15.59 seconds on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, placing it third on the all-time Nürburgring lap time leaderboard and making it the fastest purely internal-combustion-powered car ever on the circuit. Limited to just 67 units, this semi-production model is not street-legal. Developed under Ford’s racing division as part of the "Gentlemen, Start Your Engines" program—aimed at narrowing the technological gap between road cars and race cars—the GT MK IV features a full carbon-fiber body structure, including both the monocoque and exterior panels, co-engineered with Multimatic. The wheelbase has been extended, while overall weight is kept down to 1,250 kilograms. Power comes from a 3.8-liter V6 EcoBoost engine enlarged through bore and stroke modifications, producing over 800 horsepower. Aerodynamically, the car incorporates multiple dive planes to generate high downforce for enhanced high-speed cornering stability. The suspension system utilizes Multimatic’s ASV dampers with 16-way adjustable damping, further refining dynamic performance.
