On April 7, SAIC-GM-Wuling unveiled its new premium six-seater new energy SUV, the Wuling HuaJing S, and opened pre-orders. The vehicle is scheduled to officially launch in the first half of 2024. All trims come standard with Huawei’s Qiankun Smart Solution, featuring three core modules: Qiankun ADS Pro (enhanced version), HarmonySpace 5 intelligent cockpit powered by HarmonyOS, and Qiankun Cloud-based Vehicle System (HUAWEI iVCS). It also becomes one of the industry’s first models equipped with Huawei’s in-cabin LiDAR-vision fusion technology, Limera. Priced between RMB 200,000 and 250,000, the HuaJing S boasts a wheelbase of 3,105 mm and an industry-leading cabin space utilization rate of 87.4%. The third row comfortably accommodates adults, and the trunk offers 423 liters of cargo space—even with all six seats occupied, it can still fit seven pieces of luggage. The vehicle also features an intelligent motion-sickness mitigation system, specially optimized for family users’ comfort. In terms of performance, the HuaJing S is powered by the Lingxi Power 3.0 system, delivering a combined output of 386 kW and peak torque of 620 Nm, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time in the 5-second range. The two-wheel-drive variant achieves a fuel consumption of 5.98 L/100 km under low-battery conditions, while the all-wheel-drive version consumes 6.98 L/100 km. With a full tank of fuel and a fully charged battery, the vehicle exceeds 1,100 km of total driving range. In麋鹿 (moose) tests conducted on snow-covered roads with all six seats occupied, it achieved a speed of 48 km/h. For intelligent driving, the HuaJing S supports highway and urban navigation-assisted driving as well as multiple parking functions right from launch. Campus navigation assistance will be rolled out via OTA update in the second half of 2024. Real-world testing demonstrates that the vehicle can safely bring itself to a complete stop at 130 km/h when the lead vehicle suddenly disappears, detect “child dart-out” scenarios at night at 70 km/h, and perform consecutive obstacle avoidance maneuvers at night at 110 km/h—capabilities that already meet or exceed upcoming stringent national standards for combined driver-assistance systems. Built on the centralized EEA 4.0 electronic and electrical architecture, the HuaJing S enables millisecond-level response times and seamless OTA updates. The HarmonyOS-powered cockpit supports seamless multi-device connectivity, multi-zone voice recognition, and customizable scene modes. The Qiankun Cloud system includes NearLink digital key and Sentry Mode, with its connected vehicle security certified at the industry’s highest level. The HuaJing S represents a pivotal product in SAIC-GM-Wuling’s brand-upgrading strategy, filling a gap in its portfolio in the mid-to-high-end six-seater new energy SUV segment and breaking away from its long-standing image as a maker of affordable, economy-focused vehicles. Backed by Wuling’s “Smart Island” manufacturing system—developed with over RMB 10 billion in investment—it achieves micron-level assembly precision and zero assembly errors, laying a solid foundation for mass production of premium models. The RMB 200,000–250,000 six-seater SUV market is highly competitive, with key rivals including the Li Auto L8, Aito M7, WEY Blue Mountain, Deepal S09, Geely Galaxy M9, and Leapmotor C16. With its “fully loaded from entry-level” strategy, the HuaJing S stands out as the only model in its class offering advanced intelligent driving systems as standard across all trims—while most competitors restrict such features to higher-end variants or optional packages, typically priced at RMB 20,000–30,000.
