Technical details of the all-new BMW X5 hydrogen-powered variant have been unveiled. The vehicle is equipped with seven flat hydrogen tanks made of carbon fiber-reinforced composite material, offering a total hydrogen capacity of at least 7 kilograms. Refueling takes less than five minutes, and the car achieves a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 750 kilometers. The hydrogen storage system is designed to occupy the same space as BMW’s sixth-generation high-voltage battery, enabling shared production lines with the all-electric version to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. In terms of design, the new model adopts BMW’s “Neue Klasse” design language, featuring an illuminated kidney grille connected by LED light strips to the headlights on both sides. The front bumper has an aggressive造型 for enhanced visual identity; sharp character lines run along the flanks, complemented by large-diameter wheels and red brake calipers. At the rear, full-width taillights echo the styling of the iX3, accompanied by a roof spoiler and a sporty rear diffuser. Production and market launch of this model are scheduled to begin in 2028.
