On April 11, at the High-Level Forum on Intelligent and Electric Vehicle Development (2026), Su Bo, Deputy Director of the Strategic Advisory Committee for Building a Manufacturing Powerhouse and former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated that the development of new energy vehicles currently faces multiple challenges: First, rapid technological iteration has exposed critical "bottleneck" weaknesses in core technologies; second, intensifying global competition is creating new pressures on industrial security and development; third, insufficient resilience in industrial and supply chains—particularly reliance on imported chips and key materials for power batteries—poses supply risks; and fourth, unregulated market competition necessitates urgent improvements to the relevant governance systems.
