At the High-Level Forum on Intelligent and Electric Vehicle Development held on April 11, 2026, Lian Yubo, Chief Scientist and Chief Automotive Engineer of BYD Group, stated that the market penetration rate of new energy vehicles (NEVs) had historically surpassed 50% in 2025, marking the entry of the century-old global automotive industry into a critical phase of transformation. He noted that the current market is characterized by intensifying competition and slowing growth, with consumers adopting a more rational approach to vehicle purchases—shifting their focus from simply “owning a car” to prioritizing technology, safety, and user experience. Lian emphasized that the automotive supply chain is transitioning from a traditional linear model to an interconnected, symbiotic network, fundamentally reshaping relationships between OEMs and component suppliers and enabling bidirectional value creation across R&D, manufacturing, and services. Technologically, NEVs have moved beyond the stage of disruptive breakthroughs into an era of refined optimization, requiring a shift away from merely stacking technical specifications toward delivering tangible, trustworthy user experiences. Recently, BYD unveiled its second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology, aiming to address challenges such as slow charging speeds and difficulties in charging under low temperatures. In the field of intelligent driving, the company is deepening the integration of electrification and intelligence by developing smart chassis components and integrated control functions to enhance driving safety. Looking ahead, Lian believes next-generation batteries and intelligent chassis systems will break the traditional rigid coupling of vehicle architecture, significantly elevating user experience. Vehicles are evolving from mere transportation tools into multifunctional intelligent agents; vehicle-to-grid interaction will expand their energy capabilities, and AI integration could fundamentally transform human-machine interaction. BYD will continue adhering to a long-term vision, steadily strengthening its technological and product portfolio.
