INEOS reported a 20% year-over-year increase in sales for the first quarter of 2024—a significant growth milestone for the brand since its market debut three years ago. The sales surge was primarily driven by fleet orders for its Grenadier SUV and Quartermaster pickup truck. Both models draw design inspiration from the classic Land Rover Defender and are powered by BMW’s 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, blending modern powertrains with retro styling. Fleet customers include the Kenya Red Cross, multiple European fire and rescue services and police departments, as well as Hertz in the United States. Positioned as vehicles prioritizing four-wheel-drive capability over luxury amenities, the Grenadier and Quartermaster align more closely with premium off-roaders than conventional luxury SUVs. Despite early reliability concerns and some criticism from reviewers describing them as “too rugged,” their current sales performance indicates growing market acceptance.
