The 2027 BMW M5 is currently undergoing testing at the Nürburgring circuit in Germany, featuring significant exterior changes that adopt the brand’s latest design language, clearly distinguishing it from the current model. The front fascia sports a horizontally oriented kidney grille integrated with lighting units, echoing the styling seen on the new i3 and iX3. At the rear, two pairs of exhaust pipes are positioned on the outer edges. The interior hasn’t been revealed in test footage yet, but reports indicate a complete overhaul with the adoption of the “Panoramic Vision” cockpit layout—a design already featured on the iX3 and i3—comprising a large central display and a slim, elongated screen situated beneath the windshield. Under the hood, the new model will continue to use a hybrid powertrain combining a 4.4-liter V8 engine with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission. The current system delivers 717 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque; the 2027 version is expected to further boost performance figures and extend its all-electric range—currently rated at 42 miles—through a higher-capacity battery pack.
