At the High-Level Forum on Intelligent Electric Vehicle Development (AI + Automotive Thematic Forum) held on April 12, 2026, Horizon Robotics Vice President Lü Peng stated that the industry has reached an inflection point—the dawn of the Physical AI era—shifting from conversational robots to action-oriented robots. He emphasized that building a super platform for the Physical AI era requires overcoming four key thresholds: hardware-software co-design, genuine openness, cross-scenario large-scale validation, and cross-domain extension. Lü stressed that automobiles represent the first large-scale commercial deployment platform for Physical AI with stringent reliability requirements and serve as a critical scenario for acquiring high-quality data. Through tight integration of software and hardware, Horizon has launched its high-compute domestic chip Journey 6P and the HSD end-to-end system, achieving mass production deployment in millions of vehicles across more than 40 automakers. Its core computing platform, BPU, has also expanded into embodied intelligence applications such as robotic vacuum cleaners and quadrupedal robots. Lü revealed that on April 22, Horizon will unveil China’s first cabin-and-driving integrated AI agent chip series, “Stellar.” This chip integrates autonomous driving, cockpit, and AI agent capabilities onto a single die, enabling vehicles to possess personality, skills, memory, and continuous learning abilities. This advancement drives the evolution of cars from functional machines toward holistic intelligent agents and achieves deep integration between Physical AI and Digital AI. Lü believes that only through such integration can the industry truly progress toward Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
