On May 29, ECARX Holdings (Nasdaq: ECX) announced it has signed a binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TPK Holding Co., Ltd. (TPK) to jointly develop the ORCA LiDAR platform for the global Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving markets. This move marks ECARX’s official entry into the LiDAR sector. Under the agreement, the ORCA platform will strictly comply with international regulatory requirements and functional safety standards, with mass production scheduled to commence in 2028 at TPK’s manufacturing facility in Thailand. Designed with deep hardware-software integration and low-latency environmental perception capabilities, the platform is tailored for next-generation ADAS and AI-driven autonomous driving systems, serving diverse applications including premium luxury vehicles, OEMs, and Robotaxi fleets. In this collaboration, ECARX will contribute its automotive intelligence technologies and sensor fusion expertise, leveraging its existing partnerships with global automakers and Robotaxi operators to drive market adoption. TPK will lead optical design, engineering development, and high-volume manufacturing of precision components. The partnership aims to enhance supply chain resilience and scalable delivery capabilities for international markets, while strengthening ECARX’s synergies across the intelligent driving stack—including perception, computing platforms, and software algorithms.
