Since October 2023, the Swedish Metalworkers' Union (IF Metall) has been engaged in a labor dispute with Tesla and organized strikes after the company refused to sign a collective bargaining agreement. On May 29, 2024, the union instructed workers at repair shops in Malmö and Uppsala to suspend their local strike actions. Strikes in other parts of Sweden, however, continue. The union stated that the dispute remains unresolved and expressed its willingness to resume negotiations with Tesla. Since 2023, the strike has garnered support from other Nordic labor organizations, expanding its impact to vehicle maintenance and repair, port operations, and logistics sectors.
