May EV Deliveries Revealed: Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility, Xiaomi, NIO All Exceed 30,000 Units

On June 1, 2024, multiple new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturers released their May delivery figures. Harmony Intelligent Mobility delivered 46,122 vehicles in May, up 41% month-over-month (MoM) and 3.75% year-over-year (YoY). From January to May, cumulative deliveries reached 191,590 units, a 26.5% YoY increase. In May, the Aito M6 and Shangjie Z7 began mass deliveries. The all-new Aito M9 received over 20,000 confirmed orders within 24 hours of launch, while the Zhiji V9 garnered more than 10,500 confirmed orders in 48 hours. The Aito M6 exceeded 20,000 deliveries in its first month on the market, and the Shangjie Z7 delivered over 2,000 units within two days. Xiaomi Auto reported deliveries exceeding 30,000 units for the second consecutive month in May. On May 2, Xiaomi announced that cumulative firm orders for its new SU7 model surpassed 70,000 units. Launched in March, the SU7 is available in three trims: Standard (starting at RMB 219,900), Pro (RMB 249,900), and Max (RMB 303,900). All variants are equipped with the V6s Plus motor, offering CLTC range between 720 and 902 km and supporting fast charging. On May 21, Xiaomi unveiled the YU7 Standard (starting at RMB 233,500) and the YU7 GT (RMB 389,900), the latter achieving 0–100 km/h acceleration in 2.92 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h. NIO delivered 37,705 vehicles in May, up 62.3% YoY and 28.4% MoM. Deliveries included 20,013 units under the NIO brand, 12,029 under the ONVO brand, and 5,663 under the Firefly brand. Cumulative deliveries from January to May totaled 150,526 units, a 68.7% YoY increase. In mid-to-late May, the updated ES6, EC6, ET5, and ET5 Touring models launched and began deliveries. The first version of “NIO World Model (NWM)” started rolling out to Banyan-equipped vehicles on May 30, with Cedar-platform vehicles scheduled to receive the update by the end of June. Zeekr delivered 34,377 vehicles in May, a 81.8% YoY increase, marking the fourth consecutive month of both YoY and MoM growth. Flagship models—the 009, 9X, and 8X—accounted for nearly 50% of total deliveries, driving the average transaction price per vehicle up by 52.4% YoY. The Zeekr 9X has surpassed 60,000 cumulative deliveries, with an average transaction price exceeding RMB 530,000, and is slated for overseas launch in Q3. The Zeekr 8X delivered 5,757 units in May; the Yaoying Qianli Haohan H7 variant has begun deliveries, and the H9 variant will start deliveries in July. XPeng delivered 32,158 vehicles in May, up 4% MoM. The company previously projected Q2 deliveries of 100,000–106,000 units and revenue of RMB 19.6–20.8 billion. IM Motors delivered 10,023 vehicles in May, bringing its January–May cumulative sales up 115% YoY. Its flagship LS8 model received over 10,000 confirmed orders within one hour of launch. IM’s current product lineup includes the LS8, LS6, and L6, covering a price range of RMB 200,000–350,000. According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), domestic retail sales of passenger vehicles (narrow definition) in May are estimated at approximately 1.52 million units, up 9.9% MoM. NEV retail sales are expected to reach around 950,000 units, up 12% MoM, with a record-high penetration rate of 62.5%.
