Renowned investor Duan Yongping recently shared his experience using Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system on a social media platform. He said FSD works very well and recommended others to try it out. He mentioned that he once drove from the San Francisco Bay Area to Pebble Beach, a route that includes a stretch of California State Route 1. After setting the destination in his garage and activating the self-driving feature, he did not intervene at all during the entire trip—even accidentally falling asleep for about 40 minutes at one point. He also noted that he hasn’t driven any other car in a long time, and his previous luxury vehicles have gathered dust. Some users reminded him that Tesla’s FSD is currently only a Level 2 driver-assistance system, meaning drivers must remain attentive and should never sleep while the vehicle is in motion, and that its capabilities shouldn't be overstated. In response, Duan acknowledged that he knew sleeping wasn't appropriate but explained he had dozed off unintentionally while wearing sunglasses. He added that he wasn’t clear about FSD’s specific automation level and that, aside from parking, he had almost never taken manual control of the vehicle. Additionally, Duan previously stated that his personal opinion of Elon Musk remains unchanged, though he continues to acknowledge technological achievements such as FSD, Starlink, and SpaceX’s rocket reusability.
