Chery Group sold 247,823 vehicles in May, up 20.5% year-on-year. Of this total, 181,871 units were exported, surging 80.5% year-on-year and accounting for 73.4% of the month’s total sales. New energy vehicle (NEV) sales reached 100,304 units, a 58.8% year-on-year increase. This marks the third consecutive month that Chery has set a new record for monthly exports by a Chinese brand. From January to May, Chery’s cumulative exports totaled 752,755 vehicles, up 69.5% year-on-year, establishing a new industry record for Chinese automakers—shipping over 700,000 vehicles overseas in just five months. During the same period, the group’s total sales reached 1,100,921 units, an increase of 7.2% year-on-year, achieving the milestone of one million annual sales at the fastest pace in its history. To date, Chery has accumulated 19.62 million users globally, including more than 6.59 million overseas customers. The company has maintained its position as China’s top passenger vehicle exporter for 22 consecutive years. Between March and May, Chery delivered one vehicle overseas every 17 seconds on average. The recent surge in exports is linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East driving up oil prices, prompting overseas consumers to shift toward cost-effective Chinese vehicles. Chery has seen sustained sales growth in markets such as Russia, the Middle East, and Latin America. In the first quarter, its exports to Europe jumped 170% year-on-year, and the company has launched a localized production investment project in South Africa.
