On June 3, Tesla introduced a web-based viewer for its Sentry Mode dashcam footage alongside the 2026.20 vehicle software update, enabling users to access recorded videos via a web browser outside their vehicles. The tool is accessible through an official Tesla-provided web link and requires logging in with the owner’s personal Tesla account. Dashcam recordings are encrypted by default. Videos recorded after upgrading to version 2026.20 are automatically encrypted using a key tied to the owner’s linked Tesla account. Users can manually disable encryption in the vehicle’s “Controls > Safety” settings. Encrypted videos can only be decrypted and viewed through this web viewer, with all decoding and playback processed locally on the user’s device. Original footage is never uploaded to Tesla’s servers, and decryption keys—provided by Tesla—are restricted exclusively to the current account. The tool’s interface mirrors the in-car video player: users simply drag video files into their browser window to load them. The system automatically categorizes files by filename and sorts them chronologically, merging segmented clips from all cameras sharing the same timestamp into a unified view. During playback, the default layout displays four synchronized camera feeds—front, rear, left mirror, and right mirror—in a quad-split screen, though users can switch to any single camera view at will. A one-click “Download All” button at the bottom of the page allows users to bundle all videos into a ZIP archive. The viewer is fully compatible with mobile devices; when paired with a USB OTG adapter, it enables on-the-go access to footage directly from smartphones or tablets. Additionally, the 2026.20 update introduces new parental controls to restrict access to in-car entertainment apps and adds a diagnostics panel along with camera-cleaning tutorials to Service Mode.
