According to a recent report by a market research firm, a total of 21.47 million electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) were delivered globally in 2025. Of this, China accounted for 13.808 million units, representing 64.3% of the global total—slightly down from 65.8% in 2024, yet still firmly maintaining its position as the world’s largest new energy vehicle (NEV) market. Europe ranked second with 4.257 million deliveries, capturing a 19.8% share, up 34.9% year-over-year. In contrast, the North American market declined by 5%, delivering 1.736 million units and seeing its share drop to 8.1%. Meanwhile, other Asia-Pacific markets (excluding China) delivered 1.233 million vehicles, surging 58.5% year-over-year, while other regions delivered 436,000 units, also showing significant growth. China continues to lead global NEV production and consumption, driven by the rapid expansion of automakers such as BYD, Geely, and Leapmotor.
