On February 9, the world's first intelligent driving laboratory integrating three key elements—"entire vehicle, dynamic traffic, and simulated climate"—was completed and put into operation in Chongqing. Spanning over 5,000 square meters, the facility can simulate extreme environmental conditions such as dense fog, heavy rain, and intense sunlight, enabling large-scale, all-weather testing of intelligent vehicles. Specifically, its fog simulation system can continuously adjust visibility from 10 meters to 1 kilometer within 30 minutes; rainfall intensity ranges from light rain at 10 millimeters per hour to torrential downpours at 150 millimeters per hour; and it can accurately replicate lighting conditions including dawn, dusk, and overcast skies. The lab also features China’s first intelligent towing system, capable of reaching speeds up to 130 km/h—surpassing the industry’s previous 100 km/h limit—and enabling precise simulation of complex traffic scenarios like "ghost pedestrian" incidents, thereby meeting the demanding requirements for extreme-condition safety testing of autonomous driving functions.
