General Motors recently announced that over 95% of its supply chain in China is now localized. The company emphasized its commitment to fair and non-discriminatory supplier selection, stating it does not exclude any company based on nationality and instead prioritizes commercial factors such as cost, technical capability, supply stability, quality, and compliance. GM reaffirmed that China remains a critical component of its global strategy and pledged to further deepen its presence in the Chinese market. By 2025, SAIC-GM will have achieved full-stack in-house R&D capabilities in electrification, intelligent driving, and smart cockpit technologies, along with independent authority over product planning and definition. Notably, the localization rate for components used in Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y produced at its Shanghai Gigafactory has also exceeded 95%.
