Audi has officially discontinued the gasoline-powered S6 sedan and will no longer offer an S6 performance variant based on the current-generation A6. According to Edmunds, Audi USA confirmed it has no plans to launch a new internal-combustion-engine (ICE) S6. The previous S6 featured a 3.0-liter twin-charged (turbocharged and supercharged) V6 hybrid system producing 444 horsepower, while the current standard A6 already comes equipped with a 362-horsepower 3.0T mild-hybrid system, significantly narrowing the performance gap. As a performance model with over 30 years of history, the S6 had long occupied a position between the A6 and the RS6—but has now been axed due to product-line overlap. Audi will continue advancing its electrification strategy, retaining the all-electric S6 E-Tron and preparing to launch a new high-performance RS6 Avant.
