According to data from State Grid’s Smart EV Charging Network Platform, the electricity consumption for new energy vehicle (NEV) charging reached 718 million kWh in January, an increase of 9.71% year-on-year. The platform currently connects over 1.11 million controllable charging piles, with a daily order processing capacity of 3 million and more than 60 million registered users. As the Spring Festival travel rush enters its peak period, inter-provincial traffic for returning home, tourism, and visiting relatives has surged significantly, leading to a sharp rise in charging demand along expressways in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces—particularly concentrated on major routes such as the Changchun–Shenzhen Expressway (G25), Shenyang–Haikou Expressway (G15), and Shanghai–Kunming Expressway (G60). To ensure smooth travel, State Grid has proactively deployed emergency charging equipment at key service areas and enhanced operation and maintenance services. Additionally, from February 12 to 23, the company will distribute over one million discount coupons via its “e-Charging” app to encourage drivers to use urban charging stations near highway entrances and exits, thereby alleviating pressure on service area charging infrastructure.
