The Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Department of Finance recently issued the "Sichuan Province Policies and Measures for Large-Scale Equipment Upgrading and Consumer Goods Trade-In Program in 2026," explicitly supporting automobile trade-in and replacement. In 2026, individual consumers who sell their registered passenger vehicles and purchase eligible new vehicles will be eligible for a one-time subsidy. Specifically, those replacing their vehicles with new energy passenger cars listed in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's "Catalogue of New Energy Vehicle Models Eligible for Purchase Tax Exemption" will receive a subsidy of 8% of the new vehicle’s purchase price, capped at RMB 15,000. Consumers opting for fuel-powered passenger cars with an engine displacement of 2.0 liters or less will receive a subsidy of 6% of the new vehicle’s purchase price, capped at RMB 13,000. The policy aims to boost automotive consumption and accelerate the transition toward green, low-carbon development.
