On the 11th, BMW Group announced a global recall of approximately 575,000 vehicles due to a safety hazard associated with the engine starter system. The recall covers models produced between July 2020 and July 2022 that were equipped with the affected starter system, as well as vehicles that received this component during repairs within the same period. According to German media reports, the issue could lead to an abnormally high number of engine starts, accelerating wear on the starter solenoid and potentially causing localized overheating due to short circuits—posing a fire risk in extreme cases while the vehicle is in operation. BMW has issued an official statement regarding the matter and will provide free repairs for all affected vehicles.
