Renowned U.S. performance brake brand StopTech has officially ceased production after 27 years in business, exiting the market alongside Raybestos and Centric—two major aftermarket brake brands under its parent company, First Brands Group. This move follows First Brands Group’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in September 2025, triggered by federal fraud charges against its founder. Burdened with over $6 billion in debt, the company was forced to sell off assets. Although all three brands were put up for sale, no buyer emerged in time to sustain operations. Production of all brake products—including calipers, rotors, and pads—has now been completely halted. StopTech was widely known for its cost-effective, large-diameter brake kits, making it a favorite among track and street enthusiasts; Raybestos and Centric, meanwhile, primarily served the premium and mid-tier OEM replacement markets, respectively. Retailers indicate existing inventory remains available for sale, but the brands are unlikely to be revived, marking the end of an era in automotive aftermarket performance.
