In Norway’s extreme cold of -31°C, 24 popular electric vehicles participated in the El Prix winter range test organized by local media outlet *Motor*. The results showed that the American-made Lucid Air topped the ranking with a real-world range of 520 km, though its official WLTP-rated range is 960 km—achieving only 54% of its claimed figure. In contrast, the SAIC Motor MG 6S EV and the Hyundai Inster demonstrated more consistent performance, both experiencing only a 29% range reduction and achieving an impressive 71% range retention, tying for first place. Other strong performers included the MG IM6 (30% range loss) and the KGM Musso (31% range loss). The Opel Grandland tied with the Lucid Air for the worst range degradation, both losing 46% of their rated range. This year’s test set a new record as the coldest in the event’s history, highlighting the real-world challenges extreme cold poses to EV range.
