Beijing has announced the 2026 quota for passenger vehicle license plates, totaling 180,000. This includes 100,000 regular quotas (comprising 20,000 for conventional fuel-powered vehicles and 80,000 for new-energy vehicles), plus an additional 80,000 newly added new-energy vehicle quotas. Of the 20,000 conventional fuel-powered vehicle quotas, 19,200 are allocated to families and individuals, with lotteries held in two rounds—in June and December—and 800 are reserved for organizations through a separate lottery. The total new-energy vehicle quotas amount to 160,000, comprising 80,000 regular quotas (59,200 for families, 14,800 for individuals, 5,000 for organizations, and 1,000 for commercial operations) and 80,000 additional quotas (60,000 for families and 20,000 for individuals). All new-energy quotas will be allocated on May 26. For the additional quotas, family applicants will be prioritized based on their points ranking, while individual applicants will be allocated quotas in the order of their application submission time. This measure aims to alleviate traffic congestion and promote green transportation. Residents can log in to Beijing’s Passenger Vehicle Quota Control Management Information System to check details and apply.
