On February 15, Xiaomi Auto sent a Lunar New Year road safety message to its users, advising them not to park their vehicles in areas where fireworks are being set off and warning against storing flammable or explosive items such as lighters and fireworks inside the car. The message also recommended taking a 20-minute rest break every two hours during long-distance driving. This initiative aligns with Xiaomi’s newly released Lunar New Year vehicle usage guidelines, which emphasize reducing speed, honking when necessary, and yielding to pedestrians and two-wheeled vehicles when driving on rural roads, while reiterating the principle of “never drink and drive.” This follows an incident in Yingkou, Liaoning Province, where a Xiaomi SU7 caught fire after smoldering combustible materials inside the cabin were ignited by a lingering ignition source. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and Xiaomi stated that the incident was not caused by any vehicle-related defect. The company has implemented multiple measures to heighten users’ awareness of driving safety during the holiday season.
