At the 3rd China All-Solid-State Battery Innovation and Development Summit Forum, Xu Xiaoxiong from Southern University of Science and Technology noted that the development path for all-solid-state batteries will gradually transition from hybrid solid-liquid systems to fully solid-state ones, emphasizing that "each generation of battery technology is defined by its materials." He highlighted that high-energy-density batteries will not only power electric vehicles but also find broad applications in AI-enabled equipment such as drones, aircraft, and humanoid robots. Currently, hybrid solid-liquid batteries with energy densities of 400–500 Wh/kg have entered the demonstration phase, and automakers like NIO and IM Motors are advancing the commercialization of 350 Wh/kg products. His team has made progress in areas including silicon anodes, self-healing binders, in-situ curing, and lithium metal anodes, achieving stable cycling for over 2,000 cycles with 400 Wh/kg batteries. Additionally, industrialization of sulfide electrolytes is accelerating; while domestic production capacity is beginning to show signs of oversupply, high-quality materials remain competitive.
