On February 18, Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller clearly stated that the brand will adhere to its pure-electric strategy and will not launch any internal combustion engine or hybrid models. He emphasized that Polestar is "not in a declining industry," and electrification is the best path toward zero-emission mobility. As a premium electric vehicle brand under Geely Holding Group, originating from Volvo, Polestar has fully transitioned to all-electric products following the limited-production Polestar 1 plug-in hybrid. Lohscheller noted that the average age of Polestar customers is 45, and they are generally concerned about climate change and strongly support the shift to electric vehicles. He argued that adding hybrid technology would only increase complexity, while the world needs simplification. Unlike traditional automakers burdened by legacy systems, Polestar can move forward unencumbered, focusing exclusively on building an exciting portfolio of pure-electric vehicles—winning the market with "future technology" rather than "old solutions" and forging a distinct brand identity.
