Tesla has officially rolled out its first Cybercab—a vehicle specifically designed for autonomous ride-hailing services—at its Gigafactory in Texas. Mass production is expected to begin in April. The two-seater vehicle eliminates the steering wheel, pedals, and side mirrors, relying entirely on Tesla's Vision system and an end-to-end neural network for full self-driving capability, without requiring expensive hardware like LiDAR. According to Tesla, the Cybercab will be priced at no more than $30,000 (approximately RMB 207,000) and will primarily serve commercial Robotaxi operations. The estimated fare is $0.20 per mile (about RMB 0.89 per kilometer)—significantly lower than traditional taxi costs—allowing users to enjoy fully autonomous rides simply by entering their destination.
