Tesla's FSD Supervised system has now surpassed 12.8 billion kilometers (approximately 8 billion miles) of cumulative global driving distance, demonstrating significantly better safety performance than human drivers—with only one serious collision occurring per 5.3 million miles driven. Recently, Tesla’s official account for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa released a test video filmed on narrow roads in the Netherlands, showcasing FSD’s ability to recognize and respond in real time to pedestrian hand gestures, autonomously deciding whether to proceed or stop—behavior closely resembling that of a human driver. The system is built on an end-to-end AI model trained on vast amounts of real-world driving video data, enabling capabilities such as city and highway navigation, automatic lane changes, traffic signal recognition, automatic parking, and "Smart Summon." According to Tao Lin, Vice President of Tesla, there is currently no definitive timeline for launching FSD in mainland China, but localization efforts are steadily progressing, including the establishment of a local training center.
