Tesla recently filed a lawsuit in court seeking to overturn a prior ruling by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The DMV had determined that Tesla violated state law by allegedly engaging in false advertising through its promotion of the "Autopilot" and "Full Self-Driving (FSD)" features. In a complaint filed on February 13, Tesla’s attorneys accused the DMV of “improperly and baselessly” labeling these names as misleading to consumers. As an automaker heavily betting on its autonomous ride-hailing business, Tesla is pushing for greater regulatory concessions from the DMV on autonomous driving technology to pave the way for its future strategy.
