The six-seat version of the Tesla Model Y L has officially been approved for sale in the Australian market, with the relevant variant now listed on the country's official sales registry. The model was first launched in China in August 2023 and began deliveries in early September, achieving an initial weekly delivery volume of 900 units and surpassing 10,000 units in a single month by November. Prior to its Australian debut, the Model Y L had already received sales certification in South Korea, and its entry into the Australian market further expands Tesla’s overseas footprint. Although Tesla has not yet confirmed the production source for the Australian-spec Model Y L, industry observers widely expect it to be supplied by the Shanghai Gigafactory, given that the facility currently handles a significant portion of Model 3 and Model Y exports and is geographically close to Australia.
