Volvo Cars has announced a recall of more than 40,000 units of its EX30 electric vehicle due to a risk of battery pack overheating, which could potentially lead to fires. The company is currently contacting affected owners and advising them to limit charging to 70% to reduce the risk. Replacing the faulty battery packs is expected to cost approximately $200 million. It remains unclear whether the recall includes the U.S. market, as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not yet issued an official statement. The EX30, positioned as a follow-up electric model to the EX90, was originally scheduled to begin deliveries in the United States by the end of 2024. The vehicle has been highly popular in Europe, and this large-scale recall could impact its future sales.
