Tesla has recently unveiled a new patent titled "Switch Configuration Control for Wireless Charging Circuits" (Publication No.: US 2025/0373083), aimed at addressing current losses in high-power wireless charging systems during wide-voltage adaptation. The technology optimizes the switching logic of H-bridge circuits by employing an "asymmetric" control strategy—where only one half-bridge switches at high frequency while the other remains constant—thereby reducing resonant tank voltage ripple by 50%, significantly cutting dead-time losses and improving conversion efficiency. This approach dynamically adapts to a voltage range from 200V to 1000V without requiring additional hardware, making it compatible with various high-voltage vehicle platforms, including both 400V and 800V architectures. Additionally, Tesla has previously explored using Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology for its Cybercab autonomous vehicles to enable precise alignment with wireless charging pads.
