Recently, a driver lost control of their Lynk & Co Z20 on a highway at night after the vehicle’s voice command system mistakenly turned off all interior and exterior lights, causing the car to crash into a guardrail. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The driver had intended only to turn off the reading lamp, but the system erroneously disabled all lighting—including the headlights—and subsequently failed to respond to multiple voice wake-up attempts. Following widespread public attention, Mu Jun, Deputy General Manager of Lynk & Co Sales Company, issued an apology on February 26 and announced that an over-the-air (OTA) software update had already been deployed. The update ensures that while the vehicle is in motion, headlights can only be manually turned off, eliminating the risk of similar incidents. This optimization applies to all Z20 models, and owners do not need to visit a service center—the update installs automatically when the vehicle is connected to the internet. The Lynk & Co Z20 is the brand’s first all-electric SUV, featuring the LYNK Flyme Auto infotainment system co-developed with Meizu. It starts at RMB 109,900.
