Hyundai Motor Group recently signed an agreement with the South Korean government to invest 9 trillion won (approximately USD 6.26 billion) in the Saemangeum area, located about 270 kilometers southwest of Seoul, to build an AI data center, a robotics factory, and green energy facilities. Of this investment, 5.8 trillion won will fund an AI data center equipped with 50,000 GPUs to support autonomous driving and robotics learning; 1 trillion won will go toward constructing a green hydrogen production plant with a daily capacity of 80 tons; 1.3 trillion won will be allocated for a solar power plant; and 400 billion won will establish South Korea’s first dedicated robotics factory to mass-produce wearable, industrial, and logistics robots. The project is expected to create 71,000 jobs and boost regional economic development. Hyundai is accelerating its strategic push into AI and robotics to address slowing global electrification trends and intensifying market competition.
