During the "On Safety" live stream on February 27, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun and safety experts detailed the investigation process for traffic accident-related fires. Experts explained that after an incident occurs, regulators immediately secure the scene, seal the involved vehicle, retrieve data, and conduct on-site inspections. They then convene experts to analyze and assess the evidence—a process that typically takes considerable time. During this period, the company under investigation is prohibited from accessing the vehicle and may only cooperate by providing requested information. Xiaomi emphasized that, without explicit regulatory approval, automakers are generally not permitted to disclose details of the incident publicly. Li Xiaoshuang, Vice President of Xiaomi Automobile, acknowledged that although the public expects companies to respond promptly, they are constrained by investigative protocols and cannot release findings immediately.
