Li Auto’s product line head, Tang Jing, recently confirmed that the Li Auto MEGA will only be offered as a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and will not have an extended-range variant. He explained that the MEGA is built on a dedicated BEV architecture, and adding a range extender would require lengthening the front hood, which would contradict the vehicle’s original design goal of maximizing interior space. The MEGA supports Li Auto’s proprietary ultra-fast charging network, enabling a 10-minute charge to add approximately 500 kilometers of range, delivering an excellent driving experience. As Li Auto’s first all-electric model, the MEGA initially sold just over 500 units per month after launch—far below its initial target of 8,000 units. However, since the introduction of the MEGA Home version at last year’s Shanghai Auto Show—featuring second-row zero-gravity seats with infinite electric rotation—the vehicle’s competitiveness has significantly improved, driving steadily rising sales and a successful market turnaround.
