Jaguar Land Rover plans to launch an all-new, fully electric "Baby Defender"—the Defender Sport—next year. This model will be the smallest in the Defender family and the first built on the company’s dedicated EMA electric vehicle platform. With an expected length just over 4.5 meters, it will be slightly shorter than the current Defender 90. Mark Cameron, Brand Director, emphasized that the new vehicle will uphold the Defender’s core DNA of “rugged durability and go-anywhere capability” and is not intended as a direct electric replacement for the Defender 90. As the first new product since Defender became a standalone brand, it will kick off an expansion of the model lineup. Despite Chinese EV makers accelerating their launch schedules, Jaguar Land Rover remains committed to a full testing cycle—including two winter and high-temperature tests—to ensure quality. The company has clearly stated that over the next 7–10 years, it will focus on high-margin segments and innovative niche markets rather than pursuing sales volume indiscriminately.
