A vehicle owner recently received a recall notice from Toyota regarding the Tundra, stating that certain 2022–2024 Tundra models and select Lexus LX/GX vehicles pose a safety risk due to residual metal debris inside the engine. The owner, Darrien, initially expected only a simple cleaning—but was surprised when the dealership replaced his entire engine with a brand-new one, despite his truck having only 20,000 kilometers on the odometer. The recall affects approximately 127,000 gasoline-powered vehicles; hybrid models are not impacted. Toyota explained that the metal debris could cause abnormal engine noises, loss of power, or even severe engine damage, and is therefore offering free repairs—requiring full engine replacement in some cases. Darrien’s experience sparked widespread discussion on TikTok, with many users sharing similar stories, while others questioned whether the issue stemmed from a design flaw. Despite the controversy, many consumers continue to express trust in Toyota’s reliability.
