As of January 2026, China’s total number of charging infrastructure units reached 20.698 million, up 49.6% year-on-year, officially entering the "20-million era." In that month alone, 606,000 new charging facilities were added, of which 522,000 were private chargers—surging 143.5% year-on-year and accounting for over 86% of the total. Public charging stations are also advancing toward higher efficiency, with high-power ultra-fast chargers being rapidly deployed. During the same period, sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) reached 643,000 units, resulting in a charger-to-vehicle addition ratio of 1:1.1, demonstrating that the charging infrastructure network is now precisely aligned with the pace of industry development. Additionally, the number of battery swap stations reached 5,925, with Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu leading the nation. With the growing adoption of shared private chargers and the expansion of charging infrastructure into county-level regions, China’s EV energy-supply ecosystem is entering a phase of high-quality development.
