On March 3, Jiangxi Province released the Implementation Rules for the 2026 Consumer Goods Trade-in Program, featuring a comprehensive upgrade of its automobile subsidy policy. The subsidy mechanism has shifted from a fixed amount to a percentage-based system tied to the inclusive tax price of the new vehicle. Consumers who scrap their old vehicles and purchase new energy passenger cars can receive subsidies of up to RMB 20,000. The policy is divided into two categories: "Scrappage and Replacement" and "Trade-in and Replacement." Under the "Scrappage and Replacement" category, individuals who scrap eligible old vehicles and buy new energy vehicles will receive a 12% subsidy (capped at RMB 20,000), while those purchasing fuel-powered vehicles will receive a 10% subsidy (capped at RMB 15,000). Under the "Trade-in and Replacement" category, consumers who transfer ownership of their old vehicles and then purchase new energy vehicles will receive an 8% subsidy (capped at RMB 15,000), and those buying fuel-powered vehicles will receive a 6% subsidy (capped at RMB 13,000). Applications must be submitted through designated platforms, and the invoice and vehicle registration for the new car must be processed within Jiangxi Province. All required documentation must be dated on or after January 1, 2026. Each consumer is eligible for only one subsidy, and funds will be allocated on a “total quota, first-come-first-served until exhausted” basis. The policy will be in effect throughout 2026 and also covers home appliances and digital products, aiming to promote green consumption and accelerate upgrades in the automotive market.
