UK-based autonomous driving startup Oxa recently closed a $103 million Series D funding round, with participation from NVentures, NVIDIA’s venture capital arm. The round included a $50 million investment from the UK government’s National Wealth Fund, alongside follow-on investments from existing shareholders including BP Ventures. Oxa did not disclose its valuation or the specific amount invested by NVIDIA. Originally named Oxbotica and spun out of the University of Oxford, the company was the first to test self-driving cars on public roads in the UK. It has since pivoted toward industrial applications—such as factories, ports, and mines—offering integrated hardware and software autonomous solutions for equipment like terminal tractors. Founder Paul Newman stated that passenger vehicle autonomy requires massive investment and faces complex regulatory hurdles, whereas industrial applications offer greater economic viability. Oxa plans to use the new capital to accelerate its global expansion across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East, and noted that the Series D round could further increase in size over the coming months.
