During the 2026 National Two Sessions, Lei Jun, a national deputy to the National People's Congress and founder of Xiaomi Group, submitted five proposals focusing on the industrialization of humanoid robots, intelligent driving safety, tech-driven public welfare, talent development, and industrial tourism. He noted that humanoid robots have the potential to become the next disruptive product after smartphones and new energy vehicles, but are currently still in an "apprentice" phase. To advance, they must overcome engineering bottlenecks, with a goal of achieving over 10,000 hours of mean time between failures (MTBF) and a task success rate exceeding 99% in specific industrial scenarios by 2027. Xiaomi’s humanoid robots have already begun trial deployments in automotive factories, achieving a 90.2% successful installation rate. Regarding intelligent driving, Lei Jun proposed accelerating the establishment of technical standards, optimizing driver’s license examination content, enhancing public safety awareness campaigns, and forming a Xiaomi Automotive Safety Advisory Committee. He also recommended establishing “Intelligent Electric Vehicles” as a first-level academic discipline to deepen industry-education integration. Additionally, Xiaomi’s automobile factory has been open for public tours since 2025, delivered over 410,000 vehicles in 2025, and aims to deliver 550,000 units in 2026. The next-generation SU7 model will launch in April.
