ZF has recently introduced a new chassis-based active noise reduction technology, Active Noise Reduction, specifically targeting tire noise—the most challenging source of cabin noise. The system uses intelligent chassis sensors to monitor tire vibrations and leverages ZF's CubiX chassis control platform to generate counter-phase signals that drive semi-active dampers to perform micro-adjustments, effectively canceling typical tire noise around 200 Hz—without compromising suspension performance. Unlike conventional acoustic solutions that rely on premium microphones and audio systems, this technology requires no additional acoustic hardware, resulting in lower costs. Given ZF’s approximately 40% global market share in semi-active dampers, this “premium-vehicle-grade” technology is expected to be extended to more affordable vehicle models in the future.
