A TikTok user named Donny recently revealed that shortly after purchasing a used BMW M2 from CarMax, he encountered multiple issues within days—including abnormal brake noises, air conditioning failure, persistent dashboard warning lights, and sluggish acceleration. When he took the car in for repairs, a technician allegedly dismissed the problems, saying, “That’s just how BMWs are,” and reportedly displayed a condescending attitude that Donny described as resembling gaslighting. Subsequent repair attempts failed to resolve the issues, and the vehicle even experienced sudden jerking while carrying passengers. Eventually, CarMax acknowledged that the cost of repairs would exceed the car’s residual value, offered to buy it back, and arranged for Donny to select a replacement vehicle. However, nearly a month later, Donny is still driving a low-spec loaner car, and his entire car-buying experience has completely fallen apart. He questioned whether CarMax’s advertised 125-point inspection is merely a formality. CarMax responded, stating it is actively assisting in resolving the matter.
