A rideshare driver in California recently shared his battery maintenance tips for his 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E Extended Range, revealing that after driving over 508,500 kilometers (approximately 316,000 miles), his vehicle’s battery has degraded by only 8%—far outperforming the industry average. According to data from electric vehicle analytics firm Recurrent, EVs with similar mileage typically see their battery health drop to around 80%. The driver noted that his Mach-E still delivers about 482 kilometers (300 miles) of real-world range and has served more than 7,000 passengers. Over this period, he has replaced only six sets of tires, seven cabin air filters, and completed just over 20 routine maintenance services. His key battery-care practices include: - Charging nightly to 90% using a Level 2 charger and avoiding letting the state of charge fall below 20%; - Topping up during work hours at Electrify America or Tesla Supercharger stations (using an adapter); - Driving daily in the most energy-efficient “Whisper” mode; - Consistently following a “shallow charging and shallow discharging” strategy combined with gentle driving habits—all of which have effectively slowed battery degradation.
