Tesla's Cybercab is accelerating toward mass production. Recently, 25 prototype vehicles have appeared at the Austin Gigafactory in Texas, with the first production model officially rolling off the line on February 17. Elon Musk celebrated the milestone in a social media post. Industry insiders expect full-scale mass production to begin within the next 4–8 weeks—around April 2026. The factory has been specifically equipped with 12 Unboxed modular production lines dedicated to the Cybercab, each capable of producing 200,000 units annually, for a total planned capacity of 2 to 4 million vehicles per year—potentially surpassing the combined output of the Model 3 and Model Y and becoming Tesla’s new sales pillar. Musk stated that the Cybercab will cost less than $30,000, with long-term operating costs potentially dropping to approximately $0.20 per mile (about RMB 0.9 per kilometer), significantly enhancing its market competitiveness.
