The global automotive market continues to grow, presenting significant opportunities for Chinese automakers. In developing countries, low vehicle penetration rates indicate substantial demand potential, while developed markets offer room for vehicle replacement and product upgrades. Coupled with supportive new energy vehicle (NEV) policies in multiple countries, these factors create a broad landscape of opportunity for China’s automotive industry. From 2024 to 2025, China has firmly maintained its position as the world’s largest automobile exporter, leveraging its pronounced advantages in the NEV industrial chain. In 2025 alone, China’s auto exports surpassed 7 million units, prompting companies to accelerate overseas investment and strategic deployment. During the upcoming “15th Five-Year Plan” period (2026–2030), Chinese automakers will deepen international collaboration through four key approaches: 1) Focusing on priority countries by evaluating their market potential and regional influence; 2) Flexibly adopting strategies such as complete vehicle exports, parts supply, or direct investment; 3) Implementing differentiated product positioning tailored to local demand and policy environments; and 4) Supporting the development of local automotive supply chains, enhancing production factor guarantees, and fostering a win-win cooperative ecosystem.
